Moved home!!

February 24th, 2007

Well it is now 2.41 am and I have finally moved the site to its new server. All seems to have gone well in that all the sections appear to have connected to their respective databases with no loss of data, which is a minor miracle for me!!

I am now off to bed, and I hope you all got your emails to let you know that you need to clear your cookies if you are having a problem viewing the site.

Hopefully see some people on the forum tomorrow!!

Happy New Year from Jack

December 31st, 2006

I am such a lucky boy!

We had this thing called Christmas a few days a go and I got another present from Mum and Dad….a new bit for my lovely soft special comfort bridle.  It did look nice hanging there and I had been admiring it for ages when all of a sudden, yesterday,  Mum put my tack on!!!!

It seems Mum isnt lame anymore and we can start going out to play together again.

So we went out to the arena.  Its changed a bit since I went in there last time.  Its all springy now and Mum says the springy stuff is rubber.  Its great fun if you dig at it but Im not allowed to put it in my mouth.

We did lots of walking and stopping on the long line.  Mum says the time off has allowed me to learn the special words she uses for stopping and going and she was so pleased with me.

After a while  I was allowed to trot and Mum said I was okay to go right into the spooky corners and trot through the big puddles!  It was brilliant!!  The first puddle was a bit of a shock, I had to pick my feet right up and snort at it but the next time we went round I splashed right through it which seemed to please Mum no end!!

I was a bit tired afterwards but Mum said I had to learn a new thing and took me to the wash box.  The last time I was there I didnt really like it but this time I tried really hard to be brave while Mum got the big yellow pipe out and sprayed my legs with water.  Its actually quite nice once you get used to it.

All in all Mum seems so happy.  Im really trying my best to be a good boy for her and Dad says I have to be especially good next year because Mum is going to ‘hop on’.

Whatever that is.

More from Jack

November 2nd, 2006
Well what a life this is, I have so much to tell you!!!

Ive been with new Mum and Dad for a while now and they seem to have settled well into a routine so I havent had to bash the stable door as loud as I can for ages, which is nice.

Ive started doing ‘work’ in the arena. Its good fun but boy does it make you tired. I tried stopping a few times but Mum made me go on a bit longer so I have been having little sleeps in my stable afterwards just to recover!

Well it seems Mum is lame just now so I am having a break for a few weeks. I have tried so hard to behave myself for her and because she seemed a bit miserable I thought Id encourage her to play some games with me, I thought it might cheer her up.

We were in the stable doing boring things, she was brushing me and I was eating hay, so I decided it would be fun to spice the afternoon up so I did a couple of bucks for Mum just as she was about to brush under my tummy. I thought this was hilarious but Mum didnt seem to be laughing , in fact she growled a bit. Then yesterday, because it was a bit chilly, I thought we could do the ‘get in from the field as fast as we can ‘ game. I waited until we were a little way down the slope and then took off in elevated trot. Im not sure how that went down either really but Mum must have been pleased as she said If I keep doing it she will buy me a present….something called a chifney I think. I told the german boy next door all about it and he just tutted at me a lot and sighed…..jealous.

Well it just gets better and better. I had a present this morning!!! Mum has bought me a rug to wear in the field!!! It did feel odd when she first put it on my back but she was so careful to be gentle and not to do the straps up to tight or too quick. I kept eating my hay and tried not to look but when we started to walk to the field it did feel funny against my hair! I stopped and gave it a good looking at and a snort but it didnt go away. Its quite nice really though…..keeps you toasty warm!!

I wonder what tomorrows present is going to be!!!!

Jacks first post

Well I thought Id start a diary as things seem to have really changed for me lately!

On friday my Mum made me stay indoors and spent ages brushing me and hugging me which was great, she even put a plait in my tail and did my hair nicely. At lunchtime this massive lorry came to the yard and Mum made me wear boots on my legs and wrapped my tail up in a cover. The front boots felt funny but I could move my legs, but the ones on the back pinned me to the floor so Mum took them off again.

Anyway, apparently this big lorry was my taxi. There were loads of others in it and so I went up the ramp and took my seat. Mum didnt come with me though which was a bit sad….she would like a day out Im sure.

I really wasnt sure where we were all going but I settled in and spent ages looking out of the window watching the miles roll by. The taxi was very comfortable, it was at just the right temperature and cushioned enough to stop my legs aching too much.

Some of the other boys got dropped off but we didnt turn round to go home…..it just went on and on. I was chatting to a shire stallion who was taking up the whole of the back seat and he said he was going to somewhere called Dover and would be going on a boat!! Imagine that!!!

We got to a place where the driver needed a sleep so another man came and took over, he was a great driver too and eventually I could see that the motorway had gone and we were driving down narrow lanes, there were hedges and cows everywhere and it was starting to get dark.

By now I was beginning to feel a bit tired and sticky but the big lad at the back told me that was normal and that I shouldnt worry.

Eventually we turned into a farmyard, the driver only just managed to squeeze in and two men outside had to help him but we made it in the end.

We came to a stop and the driver and his friend got out and started to put the ramp down by my seat. It was very narrow and steep and the men said it was my turn to get off but they let me stand there for ages and have a good look round before I plucked up the courage to walk down onto the firm ground. I felt a bit wobbly but you will never guess what…..

….the nice lady and gentleman that I met last sunday were there, it was such a coincidence, and we were so pleased to see each other.

Well it seemed that the 8 hours Id spent in the taxi had all been worth it. These people are my new Mummy and Daddy! They made a big fuss of me and took off my sweaty boots and tail cover and led me to a barn with lots of other nice horses in. I was a bit worried about the room they had prepared for me…it was so full of shavings I was nearly blinded so I stood in the doorway for a while having a look. I tried to go backwards but new Mum said no and so I follwed her inside.

WOW, there was the most enormous pile of hay and a big tub of water! Id had nothing since breakfast so it was wonderful to be able to have a wee and tuck into some grub.

NM and D stayed and chatted to me for ages until I got sleepy and then I talked to the irish boy in the room next door for a while before falling asleep.

Such a long day…..yawn.
