Default My Portugese lesson

A busy lesson week!

And *phew* normality resumes! First thing Mario says...? "Why are your legs pushed so far back?"

Had a really productive lesson, my sister's on holiday so I nicked her horse and he went really nicely. Mario is fab for new ideas and making things make sense- I have a video clip of him explaining how to really move the hips and the seat with the horse- turn the volume right up, it's quite interesting. Apologies for my mother's videoing skills!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ-WLVhkXk8

Mario always gets at me for driving too much with my seat so tries to make my seat bones move a little more independantly in time with the horse's hindlegs. It really helps with the sitting trot and it's so easy to influence the horse with the tiniest of signals- video doesnt get that far but we 'contain' =collect and then move on forward with swinging steps just with the hips.

Fab lesson

Oh this by far- maybe it's just what I've always known and been comfortable with but this feels natural and it works well

Interesting- if you look at one of the video's of one of the advanced horses on the Dovecote website- to me it doesnt look at all correct in its way of goingso tight in the back that the rider is being bounced out of the saddle in trot instead of softly moving with the horses back, but then what do i know!
